We are looking for a multi-faceted candidate ready to jump into helping our team with accounting, federal/state compliance, insurance/risk management and bookkeeping functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES: What You’ll Do

This role is responsible for maintaining and supporting the general operations of the accounting department to include Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, and Payroll functions.  Responsibilities also include managing Turnkey’s federal/state compliance and insurance risk management.  

Accounts Payable 

  • Process W9 vendor forms and keeps account information accurate and updated 
  • Receive, process, and enter all invoices into the system for payment 
  • Resolve account discrepancies by investigating; issuing stop payments, payments, or adjustments 
  • Pay invoices by verifying transaction information; schedule and prepare disbursements; obtain authorization of payment 
  • Maintain vendor account information by reconciling vendor statements, invoices, and communications 
  • Monitor, reconcile, and record petty cash accounts 

Accounts Receivable 

  • Receive, reconcile, and process all revenue checks, deposit slips, and reports daily as needed 
  • Complete resident billing/invoices by following company guidelines, while resolving any issues 
  • Post revenue and customer payments by verifying and recording transactions 
  • Obtain revenue by verifying transaction information; computing charges and refunds; prepare and mail/email invoices; identify delinquent accounts and insufficient payments 

Payroll 

  • Assist with payroll functions as needed 
  • Enter bonuses, commissions, manual checks, and other related employee earnings 
  • Enter employee deductions, garnishments, and other payroll related expenses 

Federal/State Compliance 

  • Oversee all of Turnkey’s compliance across federal level as well as all states we operate in 
  • Work with registered agent(s) and compliance services 
  • Ensure all documents/filings are handled on time and correctly 

Insurance/Risk Management 

  • Manage Turnkey’s relationship with insurance agent/carriers 
  • Constantly audit coverages and need for new/changing coverages 
  • Understand insurance at a basic level to help ensure Turnkey’s operations are properly covered 

General 

  • Ensure that all proprietary, financial, and resident information is kept confidential 
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of the office, its records and restricted information 
  • Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward visitors, clients, and co-workers 
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS: What We’re Looking For

Controller (Accounting + Risk) qualifications include: 

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail. 
  • Proactive and able to focus on several different projects at once. 
  • Experience with Accounting Software such as QuickBooks 
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, as required. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines for time sensitive projects. 
  • Ability to travel (up to 3 times per year) and help with events, if necessary 
  • Comfortable with client communication on the phone, along with in-person communication. 
  • Eager to learn, grow the company, and excellent with communication. 
  • Ability to look at financials and find efficiencies/savings. 
  • Ability to work closely with a small team on a daily basis. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience required; risk management experience highly preferred. 
  • Knowledge of the transportation and/or events industry preferable. 
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
